🚀 Case Study: Crafting an Engaging Third-Person Combat Game with Unreal Engine 🚀
🎮 Project Overview: We embarked on an exciting journey to develop a third-person action game featuring robust combat mechanics, enemy AI, and an intuitive user interface using Unreal Engine. This project provided invaluable insights and showcased the power of Unreal Engine in creating captivating gaming experiences.
🔧 Development Process:
1. Conceptualization & Design:
Defined core gameplay mechanics.
Crafted a detailed game design document.
Developed wireframes for UI components.
2. Third-Person Controller with Combat & Animations:
Implemented a seamless third-person controller.
Designed and integrated combat mechanics.
Created and refined character animations for smooth transitions.
3. Enemy AI with Navigation, Combat & Animations:
Developed AI behavior trees for realistic enemy interactions.
Implemented navigation meshes for enemy pathfinding.
Designed and animated enemy combat sequences.
4. User Interface (UI):
Built a user-friendly interface displaying player health.
Integrated health bars and visual feedback for in-game events.
Conducted user testing to ensure an intuitive player experience.
🛠️ Challenges & Solutions:
Challenge: Achieving fluid combat animations without performance dips.
Solution: Optimized animation blending techniques and utilized Level of Detail (LOD) models.
Challenge: Ensuring enemy AI behaves realistically in various scenarios.
